Tribute: Councillor Sheila Newman

We were deeply shocked and saddened to hear of the untimely passing of Councillor Sheila Newman last week. Sheila had been a councillor in Chorlton and a governor at Oswald Road for more than 20 years. Sheila became Lady Mayoress in November 2017 and had been Executive Member for Children’s Services for the last 3 years.

Sheila was completely dedicated to her work in the community, whether as a councillor or as a school governor. She will be greatly missed by us all.

A further tribute from the school will follow in due course. For those that wish to share their thoughts, there is a lovely book of remembrance at Chorlton Library for memories and tributes.
