Year 5 had a great time taking part in The Movie Workshop last week. They learnt how to use a green screen to film their own weather reports, to put themselves in the middle of the desert, and even to create the illusion of a floating head!

IMG_4677BUG HOTELS AND HEDGEHOG HOUSES

Pupils from 5WM have been putting their hospitality skills to use on a trip with Southway Housing Trust. The children visited one of the Trust’s green spaces in Chorlton to see what wildlife they could spot, and worked together to build their own bug hotels and hedgehog houses.
The handmade homes have now been brought back into school, where they will be set up in the playground to encourage more wildlife onto the school grounds. Hopefully the local Chorlton critters will be impressed with their new constructed digs!

bbc school radioRADIO SUPERSTARS!

Last term BBC School Radio came in to record some of our Year 5 children for their programme ‘Something to Think About’. The children were asked questions relating to a variety of topic, including Ramadan and long summer evenings, and finished the recording by reciting a number ‘all faiths and none’ prayers. The first episode that the children feature in is all about the Great Fire of London, and they were asked to talk about something they have lost that was important to them, and how this made them feel. You can listen to the episode in full by clicking here.
